Basic Info
My name is Peisong Xiao (try pronouncing it in French), or for convenience, Paul.
I’m currently a soon-to-be 3rd year student at the University of Waterloo, majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Combinatorics & Optimization.
I’m currently working on a co-op term at Huawei Canada, Waterloo DCN Lab as a Data Center Networks, Assistant Engineer, Intern.
Where I Come From
I’m from Fujian, China. As a southern province, we live by the ocean and the mountains, our diet consists of rice, fresh vegetables, livestock and seafood.
The city I grew up in is hot, humid, but full of life.

My Interests
I’m a man of many interests. But in general, I love being with my thoughts. Whether that’s drafting up a side project, or the flow of thoughts running through my head when I take a photo, or even the scheduling of my daily chores, I enjoy all of them.
For more concrete hobbies, I enjoy origami, developing my own system (regardless if it’s tangible or not), cooking, reading, music (in particular, early Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Queen, Jazz, Romanticism and Modernism) and anime.
As for my career, I love infrastructure-related technology. Especially, I love the world of networking. I think the importance of network infrastructure has been underestimated by most people. I love figuring out network solutions for performance-critical computing platforms (e.g. HFT, AI clusters, large scale website backends).
